gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Tooling Technician to work at their facility based near Skelmersdale
Performance Objectives
- Switching tools in and out of Injection Moulding machines
- General operation of machine
- Maintenance of Injection moulding machine
- General maintenance work including cleaning and polishing tools
- Maintain, repair, modify and improve production related to Injection moulding, maintain and improve efficiency, reliability and quality
- Investigate and resolve tool and machine related problems
- Compile maintenance records for each tool to provide detailed history of work carried out
- Identify root causes of technical related problems to provide effective countermeasures
- Justify and recommend changes to components, tooling or associated equipment
- A knowledge of mechanical Engineering and a varied back ground in Factory / Manufacturing environments
Person Specification
- Exposure to and understanding of Injection moulding within the Plastics industry.
- Knowledge of Injection moulding
- Knowledge of tool design and understanding of tool drawings
- Capable of working to high tolerances, within a precision engineering environment
- Understanding of key process techniques (Injection Moulding)
- Must be able to communicate effectively with external toolmakers on repairs and new tooling.
- IT proficient
- Able to use both hand and power tools, centre lathe, milling machines and surface grinder.
- A willingness to progress and eventually lead a team.
