Cpl Life Sciences are partnered with a globally leading CDMO to source for an R&D Scientist to join their Protein and Process Analytics R&D team. This laboratory-based role plays a key part in delivering impactful technical innovations through specialized analytical support and broader R&D collaborations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and executing analytical studies to characterize product functionality. This includes binding and kinetic assessments using ELISA, Octet, and Biacore platforms, as well as metabolic and functional evaluations through enzymatic and cell-based assays. In addition, the role supports both routine analytical testing and method development activities for internal projects and external collaborations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, perform, and analyze experiments in a fast-paced, collaborative R&D environment.
• Draw scientifically sound conclusions linked to experimental objectives.
• Develop technical expertise in protein function and interaction analytics, focusing on:
o Binding assays (ELISA, Octet, Biacore)
o Metabolic assessments (enzymatic assays)
o Mode of Action (MoA) characterization (cell-based assays)
• Gain hands-on experience in chromatography-based techniques such as Protein A affinity and size-exclusion chromatography (SEC).
• Manage experimental planning and maintain accurate electronic lab notebook records (approx. 20% of time).
• Execute analytical development and routine sample analysis (approx. 60%).
• Contribute to lab operations including maintenance, inventory management, and ordering (approx. 15%).
• Support administrative tasks, including timesheets and departmental meetings (approx. 5%).
Required Qualifications:
Education-
BSc in Life Sciences or related field (Biochemistry, Biology, Biomanufacturing) and/or MSc or higher in a related discipline with relevant experience.
Experience & Skills-
• Lab experience with at least one analytical technique (e.g., Octet, Biacore, enzymatic assays, or cell culture). Hands-on experience with protein function and interaction analysis.
