Job Title: Research Associate - Global Biopharmaceutical

Contract: 12-month contract

Salary: £16.37 PAYE/£22.29 Umbrella

SRG are working with a Global Biopharmaceutical company to help them find a Research Associate to join their busy team. We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate with experience using tissue culture and performing protein or cell-based assays, preferably in an industry setting.

You will be responsible for performing protein and cell-based screening assays for small molecules, biologics and new therapeutic modalities. Attention to detail is essential to this role, along with data analysis skills, and good record keeping. The position is a lab-based role, demanding an enthusiastic and proactive mindset, along with a demonstrable ability to troubleshoot and optimise methods. The successful candidate will be given required training to meet the ever changing demands of the role.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Support the team in conducting protein and cell-based functional assays using techniques such as gene reporter assays, FRET, FP, ELISA, etc.
  • Use these protein and cell-based assays to screen small molecules, biologics and new therapeutic modalities.
  • Use liquid handling robotics and screening assay equipment.
  • Use data capture and analysis systems.
  • Analyse data using curve fitting and statistical software.
  • Interpret and summarise results for presentation at project meetings.
  • Produce detailed experimental write-ups and assist in producing guidelines and reports.
  • Embrace teamwork and collaboration.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A minimum of a B.Sc. or equivalent degree in pharmacology, biochemistry or related discipline.
  • Trained in good sterile technique, tissue culture, and in performing cell-based assays.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of in-vitro plate-based assays, i.e. FRET, FP.
  • Adept in using data processing software, including curve fitting and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Organised, meticulous, attentive to detail, and able to plan out experiments well in advance.
  • Adaptability, enthusiasm for new technologies, and openness to apply them.Desirable:
  • Experience in developing and validating protein or cell-based assays.
  • Relevant industrial experience.
  • Good understanding of pharmacology.
  • Experience using liquid handling robots.
