Our Client who are a Niche 'Hi-Value’ Shipper, based in Colnbrook have a new opportunity available for an experienced HGV 2 Driver to join the current driving team, to assist with the smooth running of the transport department. The role includes long-distance driving due to the areas covered, the opportunity of European work, and daily drops around LHR and Greater London. Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, plus overtime when available.

MainResponsibilities for the HGV 2 Driver

  • Complete collection and delivery of freight in line with operating procedures.
  • Daily run sheets accurately & ensure information is uploaded to the system.
  • Travelling over long or short distances (UK and Europe)
  • Driving vehicles responsibly and safely, following British and EU road transport regulations.
  • Ensure all goods are safely secured and paperwork is in order.
  • Check the freight given to you by the vault/warehouse is correct when loaded the van.
  • Check off all freight collected and hand over to the vault/warehouse when returned from the run.
  • Liaise with various security companies when making deliveries/collections to certain stores/boutiques.
  • Perform a vehicle defect report on every company vehicle you use.
  • Keep your allocated vehicle clean at all times.
  • Park vehicles in an acceptable manner at the end of each day.
  • Pack any freight to ensure it is suitable for either road freight or air freight.
  • Scan the POD’s as soon as delivery is made and upload accurate information.
  • Email or phone over accurate information once a collection has been made (seal numbers, dimensions/weight) as required.
  • Adhere to security procedures at all times.
  • Represent the company when on collections and deliveries by demonstrating high levels of customer service and a smart appearance.
  • Support management to ensure we are meeting the client’s needs.
  • Report any issues in the department to your line manager.
  • Adhere to all site security and health & safety regulations, reporting any breaches to the Operations Director.

Undertake additional duties, or assist other members of staff, as may be reasonably requested by your Manager or the Directors.

Knowledge,skillsandexperiencerequired for the HGV 2 Driver

Essential

  • Hold a full UK driving licence (HGV C), Driver Smart Card (Tachograph Card).
  • Have a good knowledge of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to prioritise and organise own workload to tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills: ability to communicate effectively with clients/colleagues.
  • Be a team player.
  • Smart/professional appearance.
  • Up-to-date Driver CPC qualification
  • Familiarity with European driving regulations and networks.
  • Have sound knowledge of Outlook and POD Scanning apps.

Desirable

  • Experience of transporting valuable goods.
  • Knowledge of the local area and Central London
  • The position requires people who can work together and are able to function as multiple drivers.
