Data Centre Shift Engineer - Slough

Location: Slough

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Shift Engineer to join a critical facilities team in Slough. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with extensive experience in electrical and mechanical engineering, particularly in critical environments such as data centres or banking headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems in a critical facility with confidence and expertise, including Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) electrical systems.
  • Ensure vendor visits are conducted efficiently, inspecting the quality of work and communicating recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Prepare and review operational procedures (MOPs, SOPs, EOPs) and actively participate in safety and emergency drills.
  • Maintain compliance with Health and Safety protocols, ensuring risk documentation is in place for all critical tasks.
  • Manage critical spares and stock items accurately and ensure timely reporting of all work orders.
  • Conduct technical assessments and identify skills gaps within the team, ensuring high standards across all site-controlled areas.

What We're Looking For:

  • Good experience in critical environments such as data centres or financial institutions.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in LV operations; HVAP (High Voltage Authorised Person) is ideal but not essential if you have HV experience.
  • Electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications such as a City & Guilds (C&G) apprenticeship, 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations, and C&G 2391 Test & Inspection.
  • Excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • IT proficiency and strong report-writing skills.
