Following successful award of a new framework contract, our client has opportunities for distribution cable jointers to join their Scotish and Southern Energy Networks (SSEN) contract team based in the Thames Valley (Reading, Slough and West London).

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced Jointers to join a growing business at a critical time. We are looking for skilled Jointers to complete new connections on the LV network and also Jointers with fault finding experience in locating and repairing Low Voltage underground cable faults.

Existing SSEN operational authorisation would be advantageous however is not essential as authorisation can be provided. You will provide Jointing works across SSEN's Thames Valley Region on a day-to-day basis operating from our Depots in Slough and Reading.

This position requires travel to different offices and customer sites, so flexibility and a full UK driving licence are essential.

Responsibilities;
- Responsible for your own Safety and for that of your colleagues within your working team.
- Responsible for completing all necessary documentation for works undertaken using both digital app-based systems and paperwork.
- Ensuring that before commencing work you are in receipt of all relevant paperwork required and that you understand the task/s that you have been instructed to undertake.
- Carry out site site specific risk assessments before commencing works.
- Promote and demonstrate a culture of Health Safety & Quality at all times.
- Ensure all works are carried out to DNO specifications.
- Ensure the appropriate usage of tools and equipment
- Make the Project Manager / Supervisor Manager aware of any project variations.
- Report all accidents and incidents.
- Ensuring that any personnel under your supervision have the relevant experience, knowledge & training to carry out tasks.
- When carrying out works within the public highway ensure works signed and barriered in accordance with NRSWA

Duties will include;
- Installing new and repairing existing assets such as mains and service cables, pillars, link boxes and substations. - Fault finding on the Distribution network including the restoration of LV supplies by means of fuse replacement, temporary generation, network alterations, fault repairs and linking as appropriate.
- Test and switch on the LV network - and understanding the results of the tests
- Connection of new supplies to the Distribution network
- Alterations to existing supplies
- Repair to public lighting services
- Understand and provide updates for operational drawings and diagrams
- Low Voltage Jointing
- Use of appropriate IT / fault finding equipment including TDR, LV Faults sniffer and smart devices
- Supervising Jointers Mate

Skills, qualifications and experience;
- DNO operational authorisation enabling live LV working where required and seting themselves to work on the LV Network.
- City and Guilds 2339 (formally 2322) certificate or equivalent
- NRSWA qualification as a supervisor and operative or equivalent
- CSCS / EUSR accreditation
- NERS
- Passport Holder ideal but not essential
- Awareness of Health and Safety at Work and site specific Risk Assessments
- Awareness of ESQC regulations and Electricity at Work act
- First Aid at work certificate
- Manual handling certificate
