European Finance Manager – Join a Leading Finance Team working for a Loveable Brand

Location: Slough, Berkshire

Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 + 15% Bonus

Working Hours: Full-time, 2 days Working From Home

1) Introduction

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a European Finance Manager to join a highly reputable and beloved brand known for their endearing products. As a key senior member of the UK Finance team, you will play a vital role in the financial operations and compliance across the UK, Ireland, and EU regions. 2) The Role

As the European Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the accurate filing of statutory accounts, tax returns, payment of taxes, and related compliance for all countries operated by the UK office (UK, Ireland, and EU). You will manage the Accounts Payable team, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments to suppliers. Additionally, you will act as the main point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Statutory Accounts & Tax Compliance: Oversee the production and filing of statutory accounts, corporation tax returns, VAT returns, duty submissions, and other required filings for the UK, Ireland, and EU entities.
  • External Liaison: Serve as the key business contact for external auditors, tax advisors, HMRC (UK), ROS (Ireland), and other regulatory bodies.
  • MTD Expertise: Act as the subject matter expert and superuser for Making Tax Digital (MTD) software and filings.
  • Advisory Role: Provide guidance to the US Finance team and US tax team on differences between USGAAP, US taxation and UKGAAP, VAT, and Corporation Tax.
  • Accounts Payable Management: Lead the Accounts Payable team, ensuring correct invoice processing and timely supplier payments.
  • Monthly Processes: Support the monthly management accounts production, balance sheet reconciliations, and business reviews.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure compliance with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting and submissions in the UK, Ireland, and EU.
  • SOX Compliance: Take ownership of SOX compliance for the UK company.
  • Budget & Forecasting: Participate in the production of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Global Projects: Contribute to global projects and provide advice on legislative changes impacting the UK, Ireland, and EU regions.

You will report directly to the UK Finance Director and work closely with the global finance teams, ensuring a seamless flow of information and compliance across all regions.

3) About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong background in finance and compliance. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or a strong part-qualified professional with substantial experience in a similar role.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education & Certification: Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or strong part-qualified candidate.
  • Experience: Proven experience in managing statutory accounts, tax returns, VAT, and duty submissions for multiple jurisdictions.
  • Compliance Expertise: In-depth knowledge of UKGAAP, VAT, Corporation Tax, and SOX compliance.
  • MTD Proficiency: Experience with Making Tax Digital (MTD) software and filings.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a small team effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite.
