This is a exciting time to join a successful financial services organisation going through an extended period of growth. As Risk Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the risk management framework, fostering a culture of risk, while ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations and internal policies and procedures.

Previous experience in Risk for a financial services organisation is ideal.

The offices are based in Slough and there is the opportunity for some hybrid working, 2 days from home, 3 days in the office.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Risk in developing and maintaining risk management strategies, policies, and procedures, appropriate for the automotive retail financing and car rental business.
  • Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and performance metrics to proactively identify emerging risks, whilst escalating and reporting any deviations from established risk thresholds.
  • Pro-active maintenance of the Company risk register by carrying out comprehensive risk assessments, identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities across various aspects of the business, including credit risk, market risk, operational risk, financial risk, and compliance risk.
  • Co-ordination of the completion of quarterly risk controls within the prescribed deadlines. Formulation and follow up of action plan with various department for any deficiencies identified during the controls testing process.
  • Test the adequacy and effectiveness of first level controls performed by the business, identify areas of improvements and propose corrective actions, where necessary.
  • Maintain an up to date business continuity plan (BCP) and co-ordinate BCP testing activity at least twice per year.

Experience/skills

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, risk management, business administration, or a related field ideal
  • Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), or other relevant professional certifications is desirable.
  • Prior experience in risk management or in a control function within the automotive finance industry or related financial services sector is essential
