Our client, an International School based in beautiful grounds near Slough is seeking an on-site Boarding Housemother. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the well-being and support of around 60 students living in the boarding house, providing a nurturing and supportive environment.

Hours - 4pm on Friday til 9am on Wednesday (please note on-site accommodation including meals is provided full-time (including when off-duty), term-time only.

Responsibilities:

  • Stay in boarding house communal areas during nominated hours of duty.
  • Reside in official accommodation and respond to calls/ alarms in line with protocols.
  • Provide first aid, initial medical support and the safe administration of non-prescription medicines to students.
  • Assist with booking medical appointments and accompany students when and if necessary.
  • Oversee the administration of medication to students as required.
  • Keep all medical records accurate and up-to-date.
  • Ensure information on the dietary needs/ allergies students is shared with staff.
  • Ensure the accident and incident register is accurate.
  • Conduct the termly health and safety audits for all boarding areas.
  • Do room checks on a regular basis and report any Health and Safety concerns.
  • Assist the School and Boarding Administrator in reviewing the boarding risk assessment.
  • Participate in a programme of continual risk assessment within the Campus as required by Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Assist in arranging and overseeing departure and arrival of students.
  • Work closely with the with fellow boarding staff ensuring the smooth handover at boarding shifts.
  • Ensure that the presence of students is checked and reported regularly, at times set for registration, and report any missing students to the Head of School.
  • Organise recreational activities for students while on campus after academic time and participate in external school trips.
  • Oversee detention sessions during weekends.
  • Work closely with the with fellow boarding staff ensuring the smooth handover at boarding shifts.
  • Maintain detailed student records (medical, immunisations, incidents, reports etc.) with particular attention to the confidentiality, privacy and sensitivity of issues.
  • Undertake such other duties as the Executive Director and Head of School may require.
  • Ensure that Safeguarding policies are always upheld.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parent.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Background in counselling or education is beneficial.
