Our client, an international logistics specialist offering freight forwarding, shipping and trucking services for commercial and residential shippers, are looking for a Freight Forwarder to join their team and offices within the Colnbrook, Berkshire area.

The Company

With over 25 years working experience and a network servicing the UK, the Gulf of Mexico for USA and Russia to Sakhalin Island, as well as more recently Australia, Brazil, West Africa and the Middle East, they focus extensively on project management, from moving small stop-work items by express air services, to full-vessel charters as they understand the importance of listening to the specialised customer requirements and making sure that the cargo gets to the final destination "On Time". .

Main Purpose of the Role:

As a key player in the operations, you’ll collaborate with carriers, customs agents, and clients to ensure seamless movement of goods across borders. Your attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and customer-centric mindset will be crucial. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment and love navigating the intricacies of global supply chains.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Freight Forwarder:

  • Freight Forwarding / Cargo Coordination: Arrange and manage the transportation of goods across various modes (air, sea, road, rail) to ensure timely delivery.
  • Documentation Handling: Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and certificates of origin.
  • Customs Compliance: Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and customs procedures.
  • Route Optimization: Determine the most efficient and cost-effective shipping routes for each shipment.
  • Communication: Liaise with carriers, suppliers, and clients to provide updates, resolve issues, and address inquiries.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks related to cargo handling, insurance, and transit.
  • Problem-Solving: Address any logistical challenges that arise during transportation, such as delays, rerouting, or damaged goods.
  • Client Relationship: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their specific needs and preferences.

To Be Considered:

  • Must be a car owner as the role requires visits to border force and airline offices
  • Industry Knowledge: Prior experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or related roles is essential.
  • MUST have knowledge of using CDS
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using transportation management systems (TMS), tracking software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial for interacting with clients, carriers, and colleagues.
  • Attention to Detail: Freight forwarders must be meticulous in handling documentation and ensuring accuracy.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Quick thinking and adaptability are essential when dealing with unexpected challenges.
  • Negotiation Skills: Freight forwarders often negotiate rates with carriers and service providers.
  • Multilingual Skills: Given the global nature of the industry, proficiency in additional languages can be advantageous.
