Our client are an established art shipper & freight forwarder based in Colnbrook and have a new opportunity available for a Fine Art Packer to join the busy Art team. The role involves all aspects of moving & packing various fine art and furniture for their prestigious clients. Normal working hours are 09:00-18:00, Monday to Friday, with a one hour break each day.

Responsibilities for the Fine Art Packer - the role involves, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Packing and de-installation of various fine art and furniture.
  • Inspecting artworks to determine how, where, when, or if to touch them and how to pack for export.
  • Packing and wrapping artworks professionally in various settings ranging from corporate to residential properties.
  • Interacting with art professionals and collectors.
  • Efficiently handling paperwork, labelling, packing lists and detailed condition reports with photographs.
  • Ordering packing supplies and cases for export.
  • Assisting in art fairs in the UK as well as across Europe.
  • Represent the company by demonstrating high levels of customer service and a smart appearance at all times.
  • Undertake additional duties, or assist other members of staff, as may be reasonably requested by the Manager or Directors.

The knowledge, skills and experience required for the Fine Art Packer are:

Essential

  • Experience in moving fine art; ability to efficiently wrap/pack, load and tie in artworks within a vehicle for sage transportation.
  • Good knowledge of basic art terminology.
  • Good knowledge of packing materials and packing methods.
  • Install and de-install skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal and written.
  • IT skills - Microsoft Office (outlook, word & excel).
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and alone.

Desirable

  • IT skills - in-house systems.

Due to the nature of the role, there are a number of compulsorychecks that must be carried out:

  1. A criminal record check - basic disclosure, carried out by the Disclosure & Barring Service.
  2. A full 5 year reference history, with any gaps in employment scrutinised and accounted for.
