Project Manager - Security/Resilience Solution & Tools Implementation

Location: Berkshire, South East England (Local Government)

Day Rate: £500 per day (Inside IR35)

Contract: 3-month rolling contract, multiple extensions expected

Hybrid Working: 1 to 2 days in the office per week (with flexibility for additional days if required)

Salt Recruitment's Local Government team is currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to oversee the implementation of critical security and resilience solutions for a Local Government body in Berkshire, South East England. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of key security initiatives, including the deployment of a managed SOC/SIEM solution and a Backup as a Service (BaaS)/Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) solution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the successful implementation of managed SOC/SIEM and BaaS/DRaaS solutions, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans and timelines to facilitate seamless delivery of security solutions.
  • Engage with key stakeholders across IT, security, emergency planning, and various council departments to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the wider organisation to align business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) plans with the operational needs of the business.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant local government regulations, standards, and frameworks.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with the implementation of security solutions.
  • Provide training and support to council staff to facilitate the effective adoption of new security tools and processes.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, providing regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Manage and coordinate relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure effective solution delivery.
  • Document project processes, key decisions, and outcomes to support ongoing and future initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in implementing Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, including Backup as a Service (BaaS) and Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) - this must be clearly demonstrated on your CV.
  • Hands-on experience with SOC/SIEM solutions, ensuring robust monitoring and response capabilities - this must be clearly demonstrated on your CV.
  • Strong project management expertise, with a track record of delivering complex IT security projects within the public sector.
  • Familiarity with local government regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and manage relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience in risk management, business continuity planning, and IT governance.
  • Vendor management experience, ensuring service providers meet contractual obligations and project expectations.
