Job Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Supply Teacher to join a vibrant secondary school in Slough. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about education, seeking to gain valuable classroom experience, and eager to contribute to the academic progress and well-being of students.

As a Supply Teacher, you will oversee lessons during staff absences, ensuring students remain engaged and on task while following pre-set lesson plans. You will play a key role in maintaining a positive, supportive learning environment in collaboration with teaching and support staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise students during lessons, ensuring they stay focused and follow pre-planned lesson objectives.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a respectful and productive learning environment.
  • Support students with their tasks and provide additional guidance as required.
  • Ensure adherence to school policies, including safeguarding and behavioral standards.
  • Supervise students during break times and lunchtimes, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Provide constructive feedback to teaching staff on student progress, engagement, and behavior.
  • Assist with setting up resources or materials needed for lessons.
  • Liaise with school leadership to report any concerns or classroom issues promptly.
  • Support occasional administrative tasks as needed.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Prior experience working with children or in a school setting is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organised, proactive, and flexible attitude.
  • A passion for working with young people and helping them reach their potential.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices is desirable.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Relevant experience or qualifications in education (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor, or Youth Work) would be an advantage.
