School Mental Health Assistant - SloughImmediate Start | Full-Time | Supporting Mental Health Needs
Are you an aspiring Educational Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, or Mental Health Practitioner?Do you have a passion for working with children who face social, emotional, and mental health challenges? Are you a graduate or soon-to-be graduate looking to gain valuable experience supporting vulnerable students?
If so, this is the perfect role for you!
A specialist SEN school in Slough is seeking a Mental Health Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time position, starting immediately or in September, depending on your availability. The school supports students with a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs, including children who have experienced trauma, attachment disorders, anxiety, and behaviour challenges.
As a School Mental Health Assistant, you will assist students in managing their emotional wellbeing while supporting their academic progress. You'll implement therapeutic practices to help children regulate their emotions and navigate the challenges they face. Additionally, you will provide support to the class teacher and work alongside the on-site psychologists and therapists to ensure each child receives the most effective educational experience.
This role is an excellent opportunity for a graduate (ideally in Psychology, Criminology, or a related field) to gain hands-on experience in the mental health field. You'll develop a deep understanding of how trauma affects behaviour and gain valuable exposure to the therapeutic and restorative practices used to support children in overcoming these challenges. This experience will help build a foundation for future training as a Psychologist, Therapist, or Counsellor.
The ideal candidate will be resilient, empathetic, passionate about mental health, and eager to make a positive impact on students' lives. Previous experience working with children or those with additional needs would be an advantage, but enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn are the key attributes we are looking for.
