HGV Technician Job OverviewTo perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure they are in safe and efficient working condition. The HGV Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and ensuring all work complies with industry standards and regulations. They will use the in-house workshop management system (R2C) to record all work undertaken in a timely and accurate manner.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Vehicle Maintenance & Repairs
- Conduct regular maintenance and servicing of HGVs, including inspections, oil changes, brake checks, and other mechanical tasks.
- Diagnose faults in engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and other key vehicle components.
- Perform both routine and emergency repairs on vehicles to ensure their safety and reliability on the road.
- Use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and identify mechanical and electrical faults.
Workshop Management System (R2C)
- Use the in-house R2C workshop management system to record all work undertaken on vehicles, ensuring it is logged in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure that all maintenance, repairs, and inspections are properly documented in the system, providing a clear record of work carried out for future reference.
- Monitor and update the system with job progress, part usage, and timekeeping, ensuring transparency and accurate reporting.
HGV Technician Job Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in HGV Mechanics or equivalent qualification in vehicle maintenance.
- Proven experience in repairing and maintaining HGVs and LGVs.
- Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to identify and fix mechanical and electrical faults.
- Knowledge of relevant HGV regulations and compliance standards.
- Class 1 or 2 Driving Licence (desirable but not essential).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Salary:
- Up to £52k, depending on experience, and based on a 47.5-hour week
- Up to £49K, depending on experience, and based on a 45-hour week
Working hours:
Monday to Friday. The start time will be agreed upon during the interview, ranging from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM
