Our Heathrow Airport based client has responsibility for the fuel between its receipt at the airport perimeter and delivery out of the hydrant system to the Into-Plane Companies. This client is a joint venture between the major oil companies and airlines.

They are now looking for a Maintenance Technician to join the team

Location: Heathrow Airport.
Salary: 50,010 + Overtime + Bonus + Private Healthcare
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, a mix or earlies, lates and night shifts. 40 hours per week

Role Overview

You will be responsible for performing daily Jet A-1 Aviation fuel product quality control checks upon receipt of fuel, during storage and before discharge from the storage tanks to confirm that the aviation fuel is on specification and fit for purpose. Report any variances or issues to the control room or supervisor.

Further daily, weekly or monthly checks & minor maintenance are also performed on various components in the plant and on the hydrant system such as daily checks on filtration equipment, storage tanks and hydrant servicing vehicles. Weekly checks on hydrant refuelling pits and underground pipework flushing points. Monthly checks on alarm systems, hydrant pit valves, emergency shut down systems.

Some key accountabilities

As part of the technician team, perform testing and maintenance activities that ensure fit for purpose on specification Jet A-1 is delivered into the hydrant system.

Contribute to excellent health, safety, security and the environment (HSSE) culture and performance, with the aim of there being no HSSE incidents or accidents, including:

Hold toolbox talks on all relevant occasions

Participating constructively in competency development, competency assessments and task observations.

Comply with / implement relevant elements of company

Control of Work arrangements. When required, apply mechanical isolations to equipment.

Support the safe and smooth uninterrupted operation of the tank farms & hydrant (pipework) system.

Perform tasks as per the Planned Preventative Maintenance system. (Weekly, Monthly, Six monthly and Annual inspections) to a high standard

Promote and comply with Company policies and procedures on equal opportunities and health and safety both in the delivery of services and the treatment of others.

Skills, Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications required

Essential

  • Experience in the fuels or aviation industry as a Technician
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Be able to pass a basic DBS check.
  • Good understanding of mechanics or a mechanical background.

Very Desirable

  • Hold a class 2 (category C) rigid HGV driving licence
  • Be familiar with the testing requirements of JIG-2
  • Good IT skills.
  • Preferably a mechanical background
