  • Onsite parking The role: We are currently recruiting a supervisor for one of our well-established clients in the Smethwick area. As the Night Shift Supervisor, you will be accountable for the running of the operation in an assignment of areas including but not limited to production, quality, cost and delivery.

    Your main responsibilities:

  • Achieve the required company quality standards ensuring both internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Ensure that data is collated, Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) are monitored and targets achieved, e.g. material scrap, DOTIF, Cost of Production per ton.
  • Consider cost and financial constraints
  • Support the management team in creation of robust master process data for ERP system to facilitate MRP reports.
  • Liaise and coordinate with support functions to progress issues concerning production planning and resource/skill allocation to ensure delivery of products to schedule within all relevant quality specifications.
  • Schedule permanent and temporary labor to achieve efficient manufacturing to customer demand and reduce costs e.g. over time costs.
  • Create and maintain visual metrics on shop floor
  • Communicate with the teams by utilising the visual management/metrics, delivering toolbox talks/shift briefs with focus on quality, safety, cost and delivery, and gathering ideas for improvement
  • Drive performance of team leaders and team members, giving direction and feedback to aid good performance; tackling poor performance with individual employees by liaising with HR and creating plans to improve performance where necessary.
  • Ensure safe working practices are maintained and ‘Standard Operations’ adhered to.
  • Through the utilisation of lean manufacturing techniques, strive to exceed the Company targets in productivity, efficiency, quality and reducing non value added activities on a continuous basis.
  • Report and act upon plant or machinery breakdowns to maintenance.

  • Experience in supervising / leading a shift
  • Being able to lead by example, ensuring a safe workplace is always maintained
  • Motivating the team to create a high-performance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced.
  • Supporting the implementation of engineering changes, production trials, product changes and pilot build.
  • Speaking with employees regarding their key performance indicators
