Mechanical Fitter
Our client is a fast-growing company at the forefront of roll forming technology who are looking for an experienced and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join their Technology team in the UK. They design all their own special purpose machinery destined for sites in the UK, Dubai, Thailand, Holland and North America. This role is focused on the build of various machine types, components and subsystems. You will be part of a small team responsible for the building of production equipment, ranging from small assemblies to entire production lines. Working closely with the Projects, Maintenance and Design teams you will use assembly drawings and manuals to turn the design team’s plans into reality. This role is suited to a hands-on Engineer who enjoys problem solving and building equipment to the very highest standards. Job DetailsÂ
Primary Roles
- Build Mechanical Machinery from start to finish:
- Mechanical presses including crankshafts, gear mechanisms & fitment detailing.
- Rolling Mills including fitment of gearboxes, layshafts & overall assembly of fabs.
- Small to medium scale machinery including coil holders, straighteners and light guards.
- Modify and improve existing machinery by implementing upgrades.
- Improved machinery guarding
- Replacing obsolete mechanical parts.
- Pre-build / Inspect parts and assemblies for adherence to QMS process.
- Document and control the pre build process
- Complete build and installation sign off documentation.
- Machine appraisals to support the design team with quoting and estimating.
- Support the local design & maintenance team with assessing machine condition during downtime.
- Refurbishment of existing assets & equipment
- Complete assessments of old machinery to support designers with quoting.
Secondary Roles
- Use manual machines to modify/correct partsÂ
- Raise Non-conformances to the design team
- Fabrication of basic components including welding.
- Troubleshoot Hydraulic and Pneumatic assemblies of machines.
- Attend Design & Project meetings
Person Specifications
Education/Qualifications:
- Must have some form of Mechanical qualification (BTEC and/or NVQ3).
Experience:
- Strong Mechanical Fitting/Assembly/ engineering experience -Â such as fitting motors, pneumatics, bearings etc., also marking out, drilling, tapping, cutting, welding etc.
- Working from drawings to assemble precision bearings and components using limits & fits.
- Working from Technical Drawings to assemble machinery components.
- Pneumatic & Hydraulic systems knowledge on special purpose machines, Piping-up, testing, fault diagnosis air & fluid assemblies.
