SEN TUTOR
Location: Oldbury
Pay: £30-32 per hour

GSL Education is looking for a SEN Tutor to work within a care centre the Oldbury area. We are looking to recruit kind and enthusiastic tutor that have a passion for working with children with SEND, as well as other needs such as SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health). The We would like tutors to apply that have a genuine commitment to supporting the at risk, vulnerable and disengaged learners in a holistic and empathetic way. We are seeking a qualified and experienced tutor to support a teenage student with SEN. The student is currently working at a Year 1/2 level and requires tailored assistance to enhance their learning experience.
This role:
3 days a week - Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Shift times: 9am – 10am, must be able to do these hours as this is the best time for the learner to engage.
It is an ideal position for someone who currently works as a home tutor and would be given the opportunity to work with students on a long term basis. The tutor would need to drive or local to the centre.
Important:
- Ability to provide regular breaks every 10 minutes.
- Patience and skills to manage frustration and agitation effectively.
- Experience working with children from a Looked After Child (LAC) background is preferred.
- Feedback: Weekly updates on the student's progress are required.
Duties
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions tailored to the individual needs of students.
- Develop personalised lesson plans that align with the curriculum and address specific learning objectives.
- Assess students’ progress regularly and adjust teaching methods accordingly to ensure effective learning.
- Foster a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and confidence.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other educators regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
- Support students with special educational needs by implementing appropriate strategies and resources.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and feedback.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children in an educational setting is essential.
- Knowledge or experience in special education is highly desirable.
- Previous tutoring experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with students and their families.
- A genuine passion for educating and inspiring young learners.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles and needs.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards student development.
