About The Bridge

The Bridge provides community-based registered care services for people with learning disabilities, autism and associated complex care needs. We provide personalised outcome-based support to enable individuals with significant care and support needs to live safely, happily and successfully in the community.

Our focus is to fill the gaps in accommodation and support provision for uniquely complex and challenging individuals by taking a fresh perspective to their support needs. We provide bespoke individual accommodation choices that are entirely flexible to meet individual needs.

Position

We wish to recruit a Deputy Manager at our Snaith service which has been running since March 2020.

Within this role, you will support the Registered Manager in taking responsibility for all aspects of developing and managing the service.

You will need to be a “hands on” manager, a team player and an open and honest communicator. You will have autonomy to manage the home with the support of the Registered Manager and wider management team. Your role will be valuable to the ongoing success of the people we support and the organisation as a whole.

You will work a combination of days Monday to Sunday the role is largely supernumerary. As part of this role, you will also assume some on call duties.

Purpose of the role

  • The Deputy Manager will be part of the Home’s Senior Management Team with a lead responsibility for management, support and direction of the service.
  • The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager to develop the support staff team to have the required skills and training to fulfil their role.
  • The Deputy Manager will assess, plan, implement and evaluate the support of the individuals residing at the service.
  • The Deputy Manager will ensure a high standard of support is provided for the individuals residing in the service. The Deputy Manager will take charge of the running of the service in the absence of the Manager.
  • The Deputy Manager will perform wider management duties to support the ongoing successful running of the home to an exceptional standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the service, delegating roles and responsibilities, advising, guiding and leading the staff team.
  • To provide regular supervision to the staff, reporting into you. Through supervision ensure that the team obtain and sustain the skills necessary to meet the needs of the individuals residing in the service.
  • To act as a Shift Team Leader and to provide coaching and guiding to the Support Staff.
  • To contribute to the training of support and other staff, acting as a role model at all times.
  • To actively participate in personal and professional development opportunities, attending necessary mandatory training as identified.
  • To ensure that he/she continually seeks to improve his/her performance, skills and knowledge, staying up to date with local, government and best practice.
  • To provide leadership and direction around wider responsibilities for the successful running of the home.
  • Infection control and COSH rules must be followed as outlined in our safety management booklet available on QCS

Focus on the people we support

  • To assist the Registered Home Manager to create and maintain a culture of openness and transparency.
  • Ensuring all support staff understand their individual roles and responsibilities in relation to duty of candour.
  • To carry out initial and ongoing assessments, plan, implement and evaluate the support of individuals residing in the services in collaboration with key stakeholders and the MDT.
  • To monitor people we support’s plans through monthly audits of support plans and risk assessments ensuring completion and accuracy. Providing guidance and coaching to ensure a consistent approach to care planning based on personalised care and evidence based practice.
  • Be responsive to changes in the individuals presentations residing in the services and implement strategies  and support to minimise the impact of these on themselves and others.
  • To be responsible for the day to day planning, provision and recording of people we supports care in compliance with CQC and current legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • To ensure plans are updated in a timely fashion and all information is kept confidential in line with guidance and policy.
  • To liaise with people we support, families, key stakeholders, the Registered Home Manager, staff and other relevant parties to ensuring clear open communication channels are maintained.
  • To lead in the management of medicines in the home, overseeing the ordering process, undertaking monthly audits and maintaining annual competency assessments for those staff responsible for the administration of medication.
  • To take an active role in Risk Management and Health & Safety in line with The Bridge policies and procedures, ensuring any accidents, incidents or undue occurrences reported or witnessed are addressed.
  • To ensure that complaints from the people we support and wider stakeholders are dealt with compassionately and as per The Bridge policy.
  • Support the Registered home Manager to ensure all staff attend and follow training provided by the organisation and are familiar with relevant policies and procedures.
  • To ensure all staff report accidents, incidents and unsafe practices to the appropriate persons and governing bodies
  • Educate and guide the team to follow local safeguarding arrangements and whistleblowing.

Wider management responsibilities

  • To positively represent The Bridge and encompass its culture and values through day to day activities and choices.
  • To manage all staff directly or through others ensuring all work is carried out to the appropriate regulatory standards and per policies.
  • To provide leadership and direction around recruitment and retention, team and individual meetings, supervision, staff development and performance management.
  • To work a varied shift pattern to ensure that the home has a senior management presence when required.
  • To support the Registered Home Manager in meetings with commissioners and funding authorities with regard to care and support and funding decisions.
  • To monitor and control costs in accordance with the homes budget and business processes
  • To oversee staff rotas in the home.
  • To assist the Registered Home Manager to ensure people we support or their appointee are billed for their contribution in a timely manner.
  • To ensure that all  processes and procedures relating to financial activities and record keeping, including timely and accurate reporting of financial information are completed where appropriate.
  • Infection control and COSH rules must be followed as outlined in our safety management booklet available on QCS.
