We are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in the water industry. This is a long-term contract role, outside IR35, offering a hybrid working arrangement with a mix of office-based and remote work. The successful candidate will work on high-profile water infrastructure projects, providing key support to project teams and helping manage costs, contracts, and budgets effectively.
Key Responsibilities:- Cost Management: Oversee the full cost management process for water industry projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and controlling costs throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Contract Administration: Assist with the preparation, negotiation, and management of contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Tendering & Procurement: Work closely with the procurement team to manage tender processes, evaluate bids, and provide accurate cost estimates.
- Value Engineering: Provide cost-effective solutions while ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare accurate reports on project costs, variations, and financial forecasts. Ensure timely and accurate submissions to clients.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks to the project, ensuring projects remain within budget and meet deadlines.
- Client & Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring smooth project delivery.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in the water sector or similar infrastructure projects (e.g., utilities, civil engineering).
- Strong understanding of contract law, procurement, and cost management in the water or utilities industry.
- Experience with FIDIC, NEC, or similar contract frameworks.
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Conquest) and MS Office applications.
- Strong knowledge of financial management, including estimating, valuations, and final accounts.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree-level qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field (MRICS or equivalent preferred for Senior Quantity Surveyor role).
- Outside IR35 contract status.
- Previous experience in a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within the water industry.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage complex projects.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing office and remote working.
- A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
- Availability to start within a reasonable time frame.
