The role:

My client is looking for a skilled PLC and HMI Programming Engineer, ideally with some knowledge and experience in Schneider Electric systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizsng programmable logic controller (PLC) and human-machine interface (HMI) systems within our various offerings, which are primarily bespoke solutions designed and implemented around clients’ specific requirements and specifications. This role requires an in-depth understanding of automation processes, and a proven track record of successful system integration.

Key Responsibilities:

•           Design, programming, and implementation of PLC and HMI systems.

•           Develop and maintain software for machine operations and process controls.

•           Perform system testing and debugging to ensure smooth operations.

•           Collaborate with project teams to define automation requirements and solutions.

•           Provide technical support and troubleshooting during system commissioning and post-implementation phases.

•           Document all phases of software development and maintain records for system modifications and upgrades.

•           Train end-users and technical support staff on system operations and troubleshooting.

Ideal candidate

•           Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.

•           Minimum of 5 years’ experience in PLC and HMI programming, experience in Schneider Electric systems would be an advantage.

•           Proficient in programming languages such as Structured Text, Ladder Logic, and Function Block Diagram.

•           Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and Profibus.

•           Familiarity with the technical standards and safety regulations applicable in the UK.
