Robert Half is recruiting for a Assistant Management Accountant to join a international business based in South Birmingham. This is ideal for a Part Qualified Accountant who is looking to join a growing business.

Overview:

  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts for the Business Unit.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for the Business Unit on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Support and management of certain key Head Office tasks.
  • Complete and submit audit schedules and stat accounts along with tax documentation as required.
  • Provide support to the wider finance team where needed

Key Duties:

  • Oversee the preparation and completion of monthly management accounts, ensuring they accurately reflect the financial position of the Business Unit (BU).
  • Posting and raising of Head Office Invoices.
  • Perform detailed variance analysis to compare actual results with budget/forecast, providing insights on key drivers behind financial performance.
  • Collaborate with budget holders to gather necessary financial information, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure that all accounting entries are accurate and in compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies.
  • Prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure all financial reports are completed and submitted within the deadlines set by the finance reporting calendar.
  • Maintain a robust financial reporting timetable, coordinating with different departments to ensure timely data collection.
  • Review and analyse financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks, providing recommendations to the BU management.
  • Conduct data-based checks and validation of group purchasing and sales database.
  • Ensure compliance with all reporting requirements, both internal and external.
  • Prepare and present periodic financial reports, providing clear explanations of financial performance and key metrics.
  • Assist with the preparation of schedules and documentation required for the annual audit, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, providing necessary information and addressing any queries during the audit process.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting documents to support the computation of the tax return.
  • Maintain organized records and support documentation for audit and tax purposes.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with team members to enhance the overall efficiency of the finance function
  • Assist in the implementation and learning of new financial systems, processes, or tools to improve efficiency.
  • Fill in for team members during periods of leave or high workload to ensure the continuity of finance operations.
  • Engage and support Management with tasks and projects as and when they arise

Profile:

  • Accounting and Finance experience
  • Business, Economics or Finance related subjects at A-Level or equivalent qualification (desirable)
  • Working towards a Professional Accounting qualification (desirable)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Good attention to detail
