About the Business

An opportunity to be a Financial Accountant (FP+A and Fixed Assets) for a service business based in Solihull. The business operates globally and is one of the largest privately-owned European companies in its field.

Main Duties:

As a Financial Accountant, your main duties include:

  • Reviewing P&L accounts for capital items to ensure proper accounting and reporting
  • Partnering with Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) owners to develop quarterly and annual budgets and depreciation forecasts
  • Producing monthly CAPEX forecasts with variance analysis and perform fixed asset analyses for management insights
  • Overseeing the maintenance of the fixed asset register to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external reporting standards
  • Assisting the Financial Reporting & Controls Manager with month-end reporting Managing finance leases by producing accurate monthly reconciliations and ensuring relevant reporting
  • Accurately calculating depreciation for all fixed assets and preparing the corresponding journal entries
  • Preparing audit schedules related to fixed assets and assisting auditors in their inquiries and processes, ensuring adherence to business processes and policies
  • Supporting the Financial Reporting & Controls Manager in the transition project related to changes in accounting standards for leases
  • Other ad-hoc projects as required

Location / Office / Culture

This role is based at the company’s Birmingham offices and offers flexible working patterns. They operate 3 days in the office at 2 from home!

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Studying towards ACCA/ACA/CIMA or an equivalent qualification
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly around fixed assets and leases
  • Proficiency in financial systems (desirable if experience of using Dynamics 365) and advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities
