Job Advert: Design Manager – Tier 1 Main Contractor (Severn Trent Water) | Permanent Position

Are you an experienced Design Manager looking for your next challenge? We are recruiting on behalf of a Tier 1 Main Contractor for a permanent role within the Severn Trent Water framework. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the delivery of high-profile water infrastructure projects across the Severn Trent region.

The Role:

As Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the design process, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, and timely project delivery. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and external stakeholders, to coordinate design activities from tender through to construction. This role demands strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of water sector projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design coordination process across multiple projects within the Severn Trent Water framework.
  • Manage and review design outputs to ensure compliance with client specifications and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Oversee the production of design documentation, ensuring accuracy, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide technical input during project planning and tendering phases.
  • Work closely with the construction team to ensure the design is fully integrated into the project.
  • Ensure that all design activities comply with health and safety regulations.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: Preference is within the water sector or infrastructure projects.
  • Qualifications: Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field. Chartered status is highly desirable.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of design principles, construction methods, and relevant regulations within the water sector.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to liaise effectively with clients, design teams, and contractors to ensure smooth project delivery.
