TheRole

Our client has redefined traffic solutions with REMOS, a centralised system that removes the need for on-site traffic operators. From a secure control room, operators can now manage traffic flows across multiple sites, enhancing safety, reducing costs, and improving efficiency. As theControl Centre Supervisorfor REMOS, you will be responsible for leading a team that monitors and manages traffic conditions in real-time, optimising road efficiency and safety across various locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Control Centre Operators, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
  • Utilise the SRL Control Hub to oversee traffic at various junctions and locations, coordinating closely with engineers, contractors, local authorities, and emergency services.
  • Review and advise on traffic management plans to support optimal traffic flow and safety during busy periods.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging the team to suggest new processes and innovations in traffic management.
  • Collate and provide detailed reports on traffic conditions and feedback for clients as required.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of local authority policies, traffic management practices, and operational systems to ensure adherence to best practices.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Essential:
    • Strong IT skills and an analytical mindset.
    • Experience leading and nurturing a cohesive, high-performing team.
    • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities to meet team objectives.
    • Calm and composed under pressure, with strong problem-solving skills.
    • SIA accreditation (to be completed prior to starting).
  • Desirable:
    • Prior supervisory experience.
    • Familiarity with traffic, security control rooms, or related technology industries.
    • Knowledge of traffic signals, urban traffic management and control (UTMC), or CCTV operations.

Candidate Specification

Qualifications

  • Academic qualifications demonstrating literacy and numeracy.
  • Proficiency in IT and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Additional qualifications in traffic signals or control room operations would be advantageous.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a traffic control or similar operational environment.
  • Background in the traffic or technology sectors (e.g., traffic detection, UTC control room experience).

Skills and Abilities

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • High proficiency with computer systems and willingness to embrace new technology.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise and adapt to shift work and business demands.
