Deputy Manager at EBD Children's Home

Location: Solihull

Salary: circa £31,000

Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day management: Supervise daily operations, provide care and support to residents, and deputize for the Registered Manager in their absence.
  • Leadership: Lead the team on shift, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of young people.
  • Policy Implementation: Enforce operational policies and care practice standards.
  • Supportive Environment: Create and maintain a warm and supportive atmosphere for residents.
  • Admissions and Care Planning: Support the manager in welcoming new residents and implementing individualized care plans to ensure their welfare.
  • Team Support: Provide guidance and support to all staff.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Respectful and empathetic approach to individuals with additional needs.
  • Strong report writing and documentation skills.
  • Experience in staff support, management, and performance improvement.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, bank holidays, and attend meetings.
  • Understanding of learning disability and EBD needs, and ability to respond effectively.
  • Experience managing challenging behaviors.
  • Ability to provide personal care with sensitivity and respect.
  • Ability to plan and deliver stimulating activities.
  • Strong team player, able to work independently.
  • Experience in key worker responsibilities, including liaising with professionals and report writing.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory role within a residential children's home.
  • Proven experience managing staff and leading shifts in the Health & Social Care sector.
  • Diploma Level 3/4 in Residential Care (children/young people) or equivalent.
  • Commitment to pursuing Level 5 diploma (children's workforce).
