Job Overview

The Finance Business Partner role presents an exciting opportunity for a proactive and technologically adept finance professional to play a pivotal role in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Director on financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end processes, while also driving process improvements and leading the implementation of new financial systems. This hands-on role requires regular collaboration with various departments to deliver critical financial insights and reporting that will shape the strategic direction of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Partnering
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to department heads by providing financial insights to support their strategic objectives.
    • Facilitate budget discussions and offer recommendations for cost optimisation and revenue growth.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
    • Lead the preparation of budgets and forecasts in partnership with various departments.
    • Provide detailed variance analysis to inform data-driven decision-making.
    • Update forecasts regularly to reflect actual results and changing business needs.
  • Process Improvement
    • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance and streamline financial processes and controls.
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
  • Systems Implementation and Integration
    • Play a key role in the implementation and integration of new financial systems to support the company's growth objectives.
  • Financial Analysis and Insight
    • Develop financial models and analytical tools for strategic planning and business development purposes.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and deliver regular performance reports.
    • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support critical business decisions.
  • Financial Reporting and Month-End Support
    • Support the month-end closing process in coordination with the broader Finance team.
    • Prepare and review monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and internal policies.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a private equity-backed business or fast-paced SME.
  • Strong proficiency in financial systems and advanced Excel skills; experience with system implementation is highly advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively partner with non-financial stakeholders.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong focus on continuous improvement and problem-solving.
  • Highly organised with keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
