GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with a hugely successful legal firm located in Birmingham. We are recruiting on their behalf for an experienced Wills Assistant to join their team for a full time, permanent position, located primarily at their office south of Birmingham.

The position will be office-based, working 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday. They are offering a highly competitive salary of up to £30k.

The ideal candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate practical experience in this area and be a very organised individual with the ability to take and action instruction from clients, whilst handling client matters efficiently and maintaining client goodwill.

You must have a full UK driving license to be considered as there will be occasional travel between offices and client meetings.

Wills Assistant main duties:

  • Taking Will instructions.
  • Preparing Wills and getting them signed by clients.
  • While taking instructions, identifying any needs of the client for specialist advice and referring to supervisor as appropriate.
  • Be responsible for Wills administration and the implementation of a suitable system.
  • Interacting with clients both on the telephone and in person in a confidential manner.
  • Assisting in the marketing and development of the department and practice.
  • Rendering advice in accordance with training given, conducting matters in the proper manner and progressing to completion.
  • Ensure that the client and the supervising fee-earner receive progress reports at regular intervals.
  • To assist and liaise with partners and other fee earners.
  • Maintaining technical ability by consultation with supervising fee-earner regarding practical day-to-day problems and attendance at structured courses
  • To ensure that office and client accounts are operated correctly

Wills Advisor required skills and experience:

  • Degree or appropriate qualification in Law or appropriate field.
  • Practical experience or training within the field.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Approachable and well-presented.
