Overview:

Unify are delighted to be recruiting for a Health, Safety Environment Advisor to be based near Solihull. You will be joining a leading provider of Plant Hire, Transport and Haulage service throughout the UK who are currently undergoing remarkable growth.

As the HSE Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective implementation and ongoing compliance of Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems across multiple sites in Birmingham, Bradford, and Wigan.

What do I need?

  • Proven experience managing HSE systems within the construction or civil infrastructure sector.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (Construction) qualification.
  • Excellent understanding of H&S legislation and best practices, with a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with a diplomatic yet assertive approach.
  • A practical, solutions-focused attitude with a no-compromise stance on safety.
  • Willingness to travel between sites as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Primarily based in Birmingham, with regular travel to sites in Bradford and Wigan, promoting a strong safety-first approach across all locations.
  • Partnering with department leads to proactively identify and address potential compliance risks.
  • Conducting thorough risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Leading investigations into significant incidents, compiling reports, and sharing key learnings.
  • Developing and maintaining HSE management procedures aligned with industry best practices.
  • Carrying out internal audits (OHSA 45001 & ISO 14001), providing detailed reports, and driving corrective action plans.
  • Acting as the key liaison for external audits, ensuring seamless coordination and compliance.
  • Tracking progress on audit findings, monitoring corrective actions, and conducting informal reviews as needed.
  • Contributing to HSE meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance workforce awareness.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of HSE training materials.
  • Where required, assisting the Insurance Manager in incident-related claims investigations.
  • Collaborating closely with the Environment Team to align on sustainability initiatives.
