IT Infrastructure & Network Engineer – up to £48,000 + Benefits - Solihull

Switching, IP Subnetting, VLANs, Routing; Microsoft 365 Active Directory, Azure Virtual Networking; Windows Server; Intune, Firewalls WatchGuard, Backup Acronis Cloud, Wi-Fi

Hybrid working 2-3 days office based. Join one of the UK’s leading and rapidly growing organisations as an IT Infrastructure & Network Engineer. Be a key member of our clients IT Infrastructure team, playing an integral role in maturing our IT capabilities and delivering best-in-class IT platforms.

As an IT Infrastructure & Network Engineer, you will work closely with the other team members and stakeholders to test and implement technical solutions from a project/deployment perspective. You will handle IT escalations from various departments, managing issues until completion. This role involves a mix of BAU and project work, and on the very rare occasion some  evening and weekend work to minimise downtime (expenses and overtime will be paid).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as an escalation point for incidents/issues that less experienced engineers cannot resolve.
  • Plan and execute maintenance and upgrades to future-proof IT systems.
  • Assist in transforming the current varied IT estate to a standardised, best-in-class IT platform.
  • Monitor and proactively adjust to ensure the availability and performance of infrastructure-based services.
  • Deliver operational IT Infrastructure services, solutions, and IT project delivery, underpinned by clear KPIs and metrics.
  • Ensure strong operational IT Infrastructure-related service delivery, adhering to ITIL best practices.
  • Ensure strong IT Infrastructure-related project delivery, adhering to PRINCE2 (or equivalent) best practices.
  • Provide clear and concise communication across all aspects of infrastructure services.
  • Support, coach, and develop team members to help them achieve their best.

Key Technical Skills:

  • Networking Fundamentals: Switching, IP Subnetting, VLANs, Routing
  • Microsoft 365 Administration & Configuration / Active Directory Administration
  • Azure Virtual Networking
  • Windows Server Deployment & Administration
  • Intune Device Management & Deployment
  • Firewall Installation & Configuration (preferably WatchGuard) / Security-minded
  • Backup Management & Configuration (preferably Acronis Cloud)
  • Wi-Fi Installation & Configuration / Wi-Fi Survey

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in a corporate/mid-size enterprise level IT Networking Infrastructure role.
  • Experience consolidating a wide variety of technologies into a standardised offering.
  • Experience developing and delivering IT solutions and projects.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise workload in high-pressure situations, working both remotely and on-site.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • A desire to obtain knowledge of the business, not just the technology.
  • A “Can do” / “glass half full” attitude.
  • Full driving license, access to a vehicle
