Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Supplier Development Engineer for a 12-month contract at our Solihull facility. This role is crucial for ensuring the supply base meets customer demands while maintaining high-quality standards. You'll focus on supplier development, risk assessment, process improvement, and performance management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Risk Assessments, Rate Readiness Assessments, and Capacity Assessments of the supply base.
  • Drive adherence to quality procedures and specifications across suppliers.
  • Approve suppliers according to the sourcing process.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and process improvement activities using standard tools.
  • Collaborate in defining material specifications with Engineering, Process Engineering, Purchasing, and suppliers.
  • Establish and manage supplier development programs, ensuring corrective actions are followed up.
  • Perform supplier audits as part of sourcing and development programs.
  • Negotiate and finalize supplier quality manuals.
  • Support escalation paths for unresolved quality issues and poor supplier performance.
  • Define actions for early production containment to prevent disruptions.
  • Maintain and track supplier records for ongoing evaluation.
  • Execute regular supplier performance ratings and improvement initiatives.
  • Establish continuous improvement programs with suppliers.
  • Track, update, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supplier performance.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education:Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
  • Experience:Proven experience in aerospace or manufacturing, including risk assessments, process capability, and statistical process control.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to interpret Engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
    • Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Strong background in supplier audits and supplier quality management.
