REMOS Control Centre Operator, Solihull, UK

The Role:

Our clienthas developed REMOS, an innovative solution set to transform traffic management by eliminating the need for on-site operators to control signals manually. REMOS centralises this function within a secure control room, thereby improving safety, reducing costs, and increasing efficiency. As a Control Centre Operator for REMOS, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations and helping to establish REMOS as the safest, most efficient method for temporary traffic control at roadworks across the UK.

We are seeking dedicated Control Room Operators for our busy control centre, where you will help monitor and maintain balanced traffic flows across multiple sites. In this dynamic environment, you will be part of an innovative team, responsible for keeping traffic moving safely and efficiently, responding promptly to congestion issues, and contributing positively to the future of traffic management across regional networks.

The Responsibilities:

  • Operate the SRL Control Hub to monitor and manage traffic at junctions of varying sizes and locations.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, contractors, local authorities, emergency services, and the broader REMOS team to ensure efficient and safe traffic flow.
  • Assess traffic management plans, becoming familiar with them through training and experience, to support optimal road safety and efficiency during high traffic volumes.
  • Actively seek out and recommend improvements to processes and traffic management.
  • Record and relay feedback on traffic conditions to clients as needed.
  • Gain and apply an understanding of local authority traffic management policies, practices, and systems.
  • Desired Skills and Experience
  • Essential:
  • Strong IT skills, literacy, and numeracy.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • SIA accreditation (must be completed before starting).

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a monitoring control room or similar operational environment.
  • Background in traffic or technology sectors, including experience with:
  • Traffic signals
  • Security control rooms
  • Traffic detection systems
  • Urban Traffic Management and Control (UTMC)
  • CCTV operations
  • Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Proficient in using computer systems, with a proactive approach to new technology.
  • Organised, decisive, and confident in a busy environment, able to handle multiple sites and challenging situations.
  • Competent in report writing, documenting communications with internal and external stakeholders to support continuous improvement.

  • Full training on REMOS product overview and capabilities.
  • Comprehensive instruction in SRL Control Hub system operation.
  • Guidance on the benefits of traffic signals operation and control.
  • Applicable LANTRA courses as required.

Qualifications

  • Evidence of academic achievement in relevant fields.
  • Proficient IT skills and strong interpersonal abilities.

Experience

  • Relevant industry experience, with a preference for candidates from traffic management or technology-related industries.
