Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset, UK
Contract Type: 6-Month Contract
Shift Pattern: Rotational - 7 days on, 3 days off, 7 days on, 4 days off
Clearance Required: Must be eligible for BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard)

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Site Engineer to join the team at Hinkley Point C on a prestigious infrastructure project. This role focuses on highways and roads construction, including surfacing, setting out, and the management of subcontractors. You will play a key role in ensuring works are delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and coordinate day-to-day site operations for highways and road construction works
Carry out setting out and dimensional control activities using relevant instruments
Supervise surfacing works and ensure alignment with project specifications
Manage and coordinate subcontractors on site, ensuring compliance with project standards and schedules
Liaise with project managers, clients, and other engineers to ensure smooth execution
Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
Maintain accurate site records, reports, and quality documentation
Participate in site meetings and contribute to planning and problem-solving efforts
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
Requirements:
Proven experience in highways and roads projects, including surfacing and setting out
Strong background in subcontractor coordination and management
Proficient in using engineering instruments and tools (e.g., total stations, GPS)
Eligibility for BPSS clearance
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and quality standards
Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related field
Desirable:
Previous experience working on nuclear or large-scale infrastructure projects
Familiarity with Hinkley Point C or similarly complex project environments
CSCS Card, SMSTS or SSSTS is a plus

Location: On-site at Hinkley Point C
Rate: Competitive day rate, dependent on experience
