Lead IoT Data Specialist - Exciting Opportunity with a Forward-Thinking Organisation
Our client, a leading and innovative company, is looking for a Lead IoT Data Specialist to join their dynamic IT team. This is an exciting and varied role, where you will lead a team of IoT Data Specialists while collaborating with IoT experts and engaging with business stakeholders. The team operates as an internal 'IoT Lab', delivering IoT data proof-of-value experiments and projects, both on-premise and in the cloud.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the evaluation and review of data engineering and data science methods, providing expert advice on tools and standards used across the organisation.
- Plan, design, and execute unit tests for models and algorithms, working closely with the QA team to ensure error-free results.
- Oversee performance and usability tests, ensuring solutions deliver optimal performance and are user-friendly.
- Review technical specifications from suppliers and IT partners, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Lead peer reviews within your team, including contractors and third parties, to ensure high-quality solutions.
- Collaborate with Technical and Solution Architects to establish and maintain standards, patterns, and designs for projects.
- Design, code, test, and document data solutions, adhering to agreed standards and ensuring secure data management.
- Develop and mentor team members, conducting regular check-ins and overseeing line management responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a lead position within a data engineering or data science team, with strong technical expertise.
- Excellent collaboration skills, working at a high technical level with colleagues, IT partners, and consultants both on-site and remotely.
- Experience with the full data solutions development lifecycle, including designing, developing, deploying, and debugging.
- Advanced expertise in Azure Data development, particularly with Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and ADX. A good working knowledge of Databricks, Logic Apps, and the Power Platform is also essential.
- Familiarity with various machine learning techniques (e.g., clustering, decision trees, artificial neural networks) and advanced statistical methods (e.g., regression, statistical tests).
- Strong coding skills in Python, R, or Scala, alongside experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., CosmosDB, Cassandra).
- Knowledge of testing techniques to verify solutions and identify errors.
- Excellent academic qualifications, ideally an MSc in Data Science, AI/ML, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field (a BSc or equivalent experience may also be considered).
