Consultant Social Worker - Assessment Team

We are looking to recruit a Qualified Social Worker - Assessment team within the Social Care industry in Somerset County Council. The successful candidate will be working in a well-structured, organised team who are growing their social worker staffing levels. The Qualified Social Worker - Assessment Team vacancy in Somerset County Council will be for an initial 3-6 months with potential for extension subject to internal circumstance and your performance.

Responsibilities include:

  • * Work with children and families to complete assessments to reflect individual circumstances including assessment of needs and risk, alongside strengths and protective factors, to develop meaningful plans to ensure that children are protected from significant harm and receive the appropriate multi-agency support.
  • * Be the lead professional for the more complex cases and offer high level professional and statutory advice to other Social Workers and the partnership.
  • * Have an increased level of autonomy and decision making, based on experience and knowledge. Will report to the relevant manager on the progress of these cases.
  • * Chair appropriate meetings including strategy discussions, to ensure the effective review of plans and make any necessary amendments to ensure the quality of care required. Will be expected to identify and specify the need for immediate and future changes to improve practice wherever necessary.
  • * Assess the needs of children and families under the appropriate statutory frameworks, liaising and working with partner agencies, and other Children's Services teams, as required
  • * Participate in a duty rota responding to crisis situations and supporting children to remain safely within their families
  • * Enable and empower individuals, families and carers to address issues which affect their health, financial, emotional and social wellbeing and to achieve and sustain positive change.
  • * Contribute to the achievement of Key Performance Indicators identified through service planning.

Experience preferred:

  • Post qualifying experience of working as a Qualified Social Worker - Assessment Team within the UK Social Care industry.

Minimum Requirements:

  • HCPC Registration
  • 1-2 years post qualifying experience within the UK Social Care industry
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
