Key Responsibilities:
- Consider and process applications for work on trees covered by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs).
- Write detailed reports and make recommendations to ensure consistency and quality in arboricultural decisions.
- Prepare for and handle appeals related to Council decisions on TPOs.
- Process notifications for tree works within conservation areas, negotiating with applicants and preparing technical reports.
- Prepare new tree preservation orders, update existing orders, conduct surveys, and efficiently maintain records.
- Consider and process notifications for the removal of hedgerows in open countryside and prepare relevant technical reports.
- Support Planning Enforcement with investigations of unauthorised tree works or hedgerow removals.
- Advise onl responses to unauthorised tree works under TPO or within a Conservation Area, and appear as a technical expert at inquiries, hearings, or court cases as required.
- Provide advice on planning applications, discharge conditions, and contribute to the preparation of planning policies and development briefs.
- Prepare and present reports to committee meetings, officers, and public groups.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in arboriculture and thorough understanding of TPOs and conservation area regulations.
- Proficiency in writing detailed technical reports and making informed recommendations.
- Ability to handle appeals and engage in negotiations with applicants.
- Strong knowledge of tree preservation order preparation and record maintenance.
- Experience in advising and supporting planning enforcement and other departments.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
