Working hours: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:30 - 13:30, term-time only

Salary: £10,000 - £11,000 per annum (paid for 39 weeks of work across the 52 weeks of the year)

Food plays a crucial role in student wellbeing, and we are looking for a School Chef to bring passion and creativity to the kitchen. In this role, you’ll provide nutritious, balanced meals while fostering a welcoming and supportive dining experience for students.

About the Role:

As a School Chef, you will be responsible for ensuring students receive high quality meals that support their wellbeing and development. Working in a specialist educational setting, you’ll prepare meals for approximately 20 - 30 people, catering to dietary needs and creating a positive, nurturing kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Planning & Preparation - Design and prepare nutritious, cost-effective meals within a set budget

  • Catering for Dietary Needs - Adapt meals to accommodate specific dietary requirements and allergies

  • Food Safety & Hygiene - Ensure strict compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in all food preparation areas

  • Stock Control & Ordering - Manage kitchen supplies, oversee stock levels and order ingredients as needed

  • Health & Safety Compliance - Complete and record all mandatory health and safety checks, contributing to risk assessments and upholding safeguarding policies

  • Student Engagement - Support students in developing basic cooking skills alongside teaching staff
