About the RoleOur client is seeking an experienced Head of Asset Planning & Capital Delivery to join their team in Croydon. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards concerning the safety and maintenance of social housing properties, including Asbestos, Gas, Electrics, Water, and Lifts. You will lead the compliance function within the Housing directorate, providing assurance on property compliance for social housing stock.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage programmes of work and safety checks to ensure safe and compliant social housing.
- Develop and implement an assurance framework for day-to-day operational use.
- Serve as the technical expert on social housing compliance matters.
- Collaborate with the Head of Fire & Building Safety to enhance resident safety.
- Foster sustainable relationships with contractors and partners to ensure high standards.
- Create and implement policies and processes for compliance activities, including regular audits.
- Develop statistical dashboards and reports to demonstrate compliance and fulfil statutory returns.
- Engage in industry best practises to influence positive change in resident safety.
- Respond to incidents with action plans and communication strategies.
- Ensure compliance safety information is current and actionable.
- Support the council's long-term objectives and asset management strategies.
- Liaise with regulators and respond to information requests timely.
- Manage contractor relations for compliance-related servicing and remediation.
Corporate Accountabilities
- Deliver effective outcomes through a "one Council" approach, avoiding siloed practises.
- Lead and develop staff teams while ensuring adherence to performance management and HR policies.
- Manage budgets effectively, ensuring compliance with financial planning.
- Ensure equalities are embedded in all aspects of service delivery.
- Participate in cross-organisational risk management and emergency planning.
Key Stakeholder RelationshipsInternal: Collaborate with Members, Chief Officers, Directors, and senior colleagues across the council.External: Engage with local, regional, and national government bodies, professional bodies, regulators, and community groups.

You will demonstrate strong leadership skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships. Location Information:The office is conveniently located just 11 minutes' walk from East Croydon train station and 5 minutes from George Street tram station.
