Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Band 7 Children's Occupational Therapist to lead our Early Years Team in Croydon. This is a specialist role focused on providing high-quality occupational therapy services to children aged 0-5 years. You will play a critical role in ensuring the best possible outcomes for young children with developmental needs, leading a team of therapists, and collaborating closely with families, schools, and other professionals.
Key Responsibilities:- Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical leadership and guidance to a team of occupational therapists, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based services.
- Assessment & Treatment: Conduct specialist assessments of children aged 0-5 years, including those with complex developmental needs, and develop individualized intervention plans.
- Service Development: Contribute to the ongoing development of the Early Years Occupational Therapy Service, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing best practices.
- Team Supervision: Supervise and support junior staff, providing clinical supervision and mentorship to enhance professional development and service delivery.
- Family and Multi-Disciplinary Liaison: Work closely with parents, carers, nurseries, schools, and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure a collaborative approach to child development and care.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Deliver and oversee therapeutic interventions that support the development of fine motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living activities.
- Reports & Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with NHS standards, and provide comprehensive reports as required.
- Safeguarding: Ensure that safeguarding policies are followed at all times, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the children in your care.
- Qualifications: Degree in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience: Significant post-qualification experience in children’s occupational therapy, specifically with the 0-5 years age group. Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role is essential.
- Skills: Expertise in developmental assessments, therapeutic interventions for young children, and knowledge of relevant legislation and policies affecting children’s services.
- Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with families and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing caseloads and environments, with a focus on providing family-centered care.
