Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for resilience and emergency planning? Our client, a leading local authority, is seeking a Strategic Lead for Resilience and Emergency Planning to spearhead their emergency planning and business continuity efforts.
Role Overview:As the Strategic Lead, you will be the foremost expert on emergency planning and business continuity for the Council. You will develop and maintain comprehensive plans that align with the latest guidance, statutory requirements, and best practises. Your ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment will be essential as you provide crucial support and advice during emergencies or major incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the resilience team, coordinating all emergency planning and business continuity activities.
- Develop policies and corporate emergency incident plans to ensure compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
- Conduct risk assessments, develop training, and validate plans to enhance preparedness.
- Serve as the lead Resilience Advisor during emergency responses, ensuring effective communication with senior leaders and external partners.
- Manage a robust business continuity programme, ensuring adherence to British Standards.
- Represent the Council in various resilience forums and partnerships at local, regional, and national levels, chairing the Croydon Resilience Forum.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Accredited qualification in civil contingency, emergency planning, or business continuity.
- Proven experience in developing and monitoring emergency management policies and plans.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to foster collaborative relationships.
- Experience in providing strategic advice to senior leaders, particularly in emergency planning contexts.
- Significant experience in responding to major incidents or civil emergencies.
- Excellent project management skills, capable of managing multiple strategic projects simultaneously.
