We are seeking an Additional Learning Support Coordinator to join our team at a leading educational institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high-quality service to students requiring additional support, ensuring inclusivity and helping them achieve their desired outcomes.Additional Learning Support Coordinator

Day-to-day of the role of an ALS coordinator:

  • Organise the day-to-day operations of the department, implementing policies and procedures while managing resources efficiently.
  • Work closely with the ALS Manager to ensure a fully inclusive student journey.
  • Manage complex information and collaborate with college departments, students, parents, and external agencies.
  • Plan, implement, and review support for students with Education, Health and Care Plans and other identified needs.
  • Coordinate access arrangements for students, maintain accurate records, and adhere to awarding body requirements.
  • Line manage a team of Senior Learning Support Assistants and Learning Support Assistants, including allocating duties, monitoring performance, and managing appraisals and absences.

Required Skills & Qualifications for the ALS role :

  • Educated to a minimum Level 4 in a related area, e.g., social care or teaching.
  • GCSEs in Maths and English or equivalent.
  • Understanding of issues related to supporting students/young people with additional needs.
  • Knowledge and experience of SEND legislation, the Code of Practice, and EHCPs.
  • Experience dealing with behavioural issues and the resilience to manage challenging situations effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for professional liaising with internal and external organisations.
