Job Purpose

As a Tax Manager, you will take ownership of a client portfolio, ensuring exceptional service delivery across both compliance and advisory work. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of around 280 personal tax clients
  • Leading the preparation and review of personal tax returns (approximately 80% compliance)
  • Delivering tailored advisory services, including capital gains tax planning and ad hoc tax matters (approximately 20% advisory)
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, offering proactive solutions and addressing queries
  • Identifying opportunities for tax planning to add value to clients’ services
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members to foster their development
  • Keeping up-to-date with tax legislation changes and advising clients accordingly

The Successful Applicant
  • Extensive experience in personal tax management, ideally in a practice environment
  • Strong technical expertise in personal tax compliance and advisory services
  • Proven ability to manage a large client portfolio
  • Excellent client relationship skills with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Strong organisational abilities and the capability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Leadership and mentoring skills to support the development of junior staff
  • A recognised tax qualification (such as ATT or CTA) is advantageous but not essential with relevant experience
