They have recently opened a children’s home in South Shields, providing a safe and nurturing environment for four children aged 8-18 who have experienced trauma, mental health challenges, and self-harm/suicidal thoughts. They pride themselves on being a fantastic company to work for, with a strong belief in the importance of the care provided to vulnerable children and a commitment to open communication. They are currently seeking a dedicated residential childcare worker who is eager to grow within the organization, with opportunities to advance to senior positions and beyond.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Respond to the identified needs of children/young people as outlined in individual care plans.
  • Work in partnership with young people, their families, social workers, and other relevant agencies.
  • Ensure that work with children/young people adheres to legislative, procedural, and good practice requirements.
  • Prioritise the safety and welfare of young people.
  • Undertake tasks in the daily life of young people, as required of a good parent.
  • Participate in implementing, monitoring, and reviewing care, health, and education plans.
  • Act as a key worker to individual young people as required.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare and rights of children/young people.
  • Involve children/young people in the day-to-day running of the home and their care plans.
  • Plan and implement discharge and aftercare plans.
  • Maintain a comfortable physical environment in line with standards and guidance.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and professionals.
  • Undertake administrative tasks and record-keeping.
  • Handle certain financial matters within the home, adhering to the company’s accounts regulations.
  • Work a flexible rota that includes waking-night duties and/or sleepover duties.
  • Contribute to the development of positive community links and service development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Must be a driver.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year UK experience in a similar role.
  • Willingness to undergo a DBS check.
  • Ability to attend a face-to-face interview in Durham.
