Shift Patterns:
Shift 1-6am-11.30am providing general assistant duties for 3 properties in south shields NE33/NE34 postcode area
Shift 2-1.30pm-9pm providing general assistant duties for 3 properties in south shields NE33/NE34 postcode area
Shift 3-6am-12pm providing general assistant duties for 4 properties in South Tyneside and Washington
Shift 4-1.30pm-9pm providing general assistant duties for 4 properties in South Tyneside and Washington
Duties will include but not limited to
Key duties and responsibilities of the roleÂ
- Unlock and lock the building and loading bay at the agreed times.
- Timely delivery of a full range of directly provided general assistant services to include:Â
- Collection and movement of patients to and from wards, clinics and departments.Â
- Deliver linen to wards and removed spoiled linen to laundry/laundry store.Â
- Deliver stores to departments.Â
- Internal movement of equipment/furniture.Â
- Collect and deliver parcels to departments.Â
- Directing fire services when alarm activates and respond to lift/fire alarms.Â
- Attend training as required.Â
- If required, transfer food trollies to ward areas.Â
- Co-operate and assist with other work streams and with other members of staff to maintain a smooth running and effective service.Â
- Undertake heavy duty cleaning as required.Â
- Have knowledge and understanding of the fire, risk and health and safety at work policies for the property together with all other relevant policies.Â
- Receive mail and distribute accordingly.Â
- Removal and storage of clinical and other household waste.Â
- Identification and movement of medical gas cylinders as necessary including maintenance of medical gas banks ensuring strict adherence to regulations governing the handling of medical gases and carrying out daily checks of the medical gas store.Â
- Carry a radio and respond to emergency situations. Undertake emergency procedures such as fire, lockdown.Â
- Ensure all communication with the general public, staff and visitors are conducted in a professional, confidential and courteous manner.Â
- Ensure all areas are clean, tidy and well maintained. Â
- Undertake a range of cleaning duties to include operating electrical floor cleaning equipment, steam cleaning equipment in line with the national cleaning specification.Â
- To ensure all grounds, car parks and gardens are clean and tidy. In extreme weather salt/grit paths and car parks.Â
- Support new members of staff to be familiar with local environment, policies and procedures.Â
- Identify any issues with the fabric of the property
- Must be able to drive and be prepared to provide their driving licence details to be insured on an NHSPS van
