Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join a dynamic team. The role involves generating designs and associated documentation to support pre/post-customer contracts and internal R&D activities. You will play a key role in developing high-performance mechanical components, ensuring the highest design and manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake conceptual and detailed design work for bearing tenders, contracts, and new product development.
- Produce and manage models and engineering drawings using CAD systems.
- Utilise company databases to promote the reuse of existing designs.
- Perform performance calculations and structural strength assessments.
- Participate in design review meetings and liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Maintain component part records and generate necessary design documentation.
- Ensure cost-effective designs while maintaining quality and efficiency.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Strong mechanical design background with sound knowledge of strength of materials.
- Proficiency in producing technical drawings to recognized standards.
- Skilled in the application of ISO limits and fits.
- Experience working with cast, fabricated, and precision machined components.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (preferably Creo or Pro/Engineer) with 2D technical drawing skills.
- Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with international standards/directives for naval, nuclear, or hazardous area applications.
- Basic understanding of hydrodynamic bearings.
- Experience with Windchill, MathCAD, GTX, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications.
