Zenith People are pleased to be working with our client who are an established Manufacturer based in South Tyneside and have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Process Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

The main purpose of the role is todrive productivity and process improvements to improve profitability of their core plant.

Key Activities

    • Ensure safe working practices are developed and maintained within area of responsibility and strive towards a goal of zero injuries.
    • Complete weekly behavioural discussions and encourage the reporting of close calls.
    • Conduct loss studies using existing data systems to develop pareto analysis of breakdowns scrap studies, develop and complete projects to address identified opportunities
    • Focus on machine stops and set-ups, develop projects to improve by focusing on teamwork and engineering improvements
    • Where needed develop, implement and monitor appropriate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) ensuring performance is communicated and understood at all levels
    • Lead productivity and process improvement projects and prepare project status reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends, recommending actions.
    • Develop a 'funnel’ of new projects
    • Preparation of Capital Expenditure requests for process improvement projects; following through from inception to completion
    • Support supervisory / management team with productivity improvement
    • Develop use and understanding of Oracle MRP system
    • Learn how robotic line works and develop improvement and maintenance strategy for it, become the plant expert for this equipment
    • Develop opportunities to move towards increased automation

Engineering systems

    • Develop an effective planned maintenance system for the site
    • Implement improvement request system with prioritisation and feedback to initiators
    • Implement a computerised maintenance system
    • Meet regularly, in conjunction with the Plant manager, team to discuss progress, resources and prioritise activities
    • Assist with implementation of manufacturing basics

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

    • Degree in Engineering preferably electronic
    • Working knowledge of drives and robotics

Skills and Experience

    • At least 3 to 5 years of Engineering/process improvement experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Excellent computer skills with experience in Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word.
    • Leadership ability, managing and leading teams/projects/contractors
    • Developed time management skills, with an ability to balance demand among various projects

Desirable

    • Qualified Lean/Six Sigma practitioner
