The School and Role

This Secondary SEND Alternative Provision, based in South Tyneside is looking to appoint a passionate Behaviour Support Assistant to work in Key Stage 3 or 4 classes on a full-time basis. Working in this Secondary SEND Alternative Provision as part of an established team, the desired Behaviour Support Assistant will be working on a small class sized basis with pupils with Behavioural Difficulties. As a Behaviour Support Assistant you will support the class teacher in working with pupils who are disaffected to help raise standards of achievement and help enable them to become independent learners. You will engage in positive behaviour management and encourage pupils to engage in the wider social and academic aspects of school life through extracurricular activities. This full time Behaviour Support Assistant role is long term from November ongoing with the possibility of a permanent vacancy for the right person.

Requirements

The desired Behaviour Support Assistant will have;

-          Experience of working with primary or secondary school aged children.

-          Experience of working with pupils with SEND and/or SEMH and challenging behaviours.

-          A passion for the progress of secondary school pupils.

-          An ability to work as part of a team.

-          Ability to deal with fast paced situations.
