The role involves preparing, analysing, and reporting management accounting and payroll information, providing accurate and timely financial data to support decision-making by the Managing Director and Board. It also includes contributing to the organisation's financial and payroll procedures, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and managing a small finance and office team.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Produce monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cashflows.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, bank reconciliations, VAT returns, and manage annual audit preparations.
  • Assist with tax matters, including VAT and corporation tax, in liaison with external auditors.
  • Provide departmental cost analysis for profit and loss evaluations.
  • Handle import/export documentation and negotiate supplier contracts.

Invoicing and Credit Control:

  • Oversee invoicing and credit control, ensuring accurate reporting.

Payroll Management:

  • Prepare payroll information, complete statutory filings (HMRC, pensions), and ensure payroll is ready for Managing Director authorisation.

Team and Department Oversight:

  • Line manage specified accounts and administrative staff.
  • Maintain a clean and organised department office environment.

Additional Duties:

  • Undertake project planning, analysis, and other tasks as directed by the Managing Director.

Candidate Profile:

Qualifications:

Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA).

At least 5 years' financial management experience in manufacturing.

Skills & Experience:

Proficiency in accounting principles and tools, with experience in Sage software.

Expertise in preparing financial reports, detailed cost breakdowns, and managing audits.

Strong analytical, leadership, and team management abilities.
