Site Facilities Lead
Location - Southall
Job Purpose
The Technical Facilities Lead is responsible for overseeing the service, maintenance, repair, and safe functioning of all hard services . This position ensures that facilities are maintained in compliance with safety regulations and operational standards while coordinating technical staff and supervise external contractors. The role involves both hands-on technical work, leadership responsibilities and championing business critical systems.
Key duties & responsibilities
1. Facilities Maintenance and Operations
- Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of building systems, including HVACr, electrical, safety systems, etc.
- Ensure planned preventive and corrective maintenance schedules are completed in conjunction with schedules - via CMMS to minimise downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Ensure all systems comply with H&S, mandatory legislation, food safe, PFM permit consents, and site regulations as requested.
- Coordinate the use of CMMS for FM related activity and oversee the BMS for refrigeration monitoring and controlling critical production systems.
2. Leadership
- Lead a team of facilities technicians, assigning tasks, providing training, and monitoring performance.
- Coordinate and oversee external contractors for specialised maintenance tasks, repairs or minor projects as required.
- Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs for record-keeping and audit purposes.
- Develop and mentor team members to enhance their technical skills and efficiency.
3. Safety and Compliance
- Ensure that the facility complies with health, safety environmental regulations, fire safety standards, and customer site environmental policies.
- Conduct regular inspections and safety audits of the facility, addressing any issues identified.
4. Budgeting and Vendor Management
- Assist in controlling the facilities maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and maintenance.
- Negotiate with external vendors and suppliers for parts, equipment, and services.
- Coordinate contracts and service agreements for outsourced services where applicable.
5. Project Management Lead or assist in the planning and execution of minor facility improvement projects.
- Ensure timely delivery of projects within scope, budget, and quality standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Engineering discipline qualification or demonstratable experience within a manufacturing facility
- 5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, including a supervisory or leadership role
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Familiarity with QHSE standards, and other relevant regulations
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) is highly desirable
- Experience working in a food manufacturing environment would be an advantage
- Experience in leading small projects, supervising budgets, and coordinating with vendors and contractors
- Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot technical issues quickly
- Communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate with stakeholders
- Ability to allocate work and coordinate people
- Ability to combine office and hands-on site work
- Computer literate with intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel) is essential
- Demonstrate good numeracy and analytical skills
- Good time management discipline
- Positive can-do attitude
- Willingness to respond to facility emergencies, including after-hours calls.
